The Gold Mechanic (“the site”) respects your privacy. This page describes what the site does today. It is dated, and it is updated whenever that changes.
Who is responsible
This site is operated by an individual publishing under the name Reid Calloway. For data protection enquiries, contact: [email protected]
What is collected
Server and network logs. The hosting provider (Hostinger) and the content delivery network (Cloudflare) automatically record technical information about requests: IP address, time of request, page requested, and browser and device type. This is standard for any website and is used to keep the site secure and available.
Information you send. If you email me, I keep your message and your address in order to reply.
What is not collected. The site has no user accounts, no comments, no newsletter sign-up and no contact form. There is currently no analytics software on this site — no Google Analytics, no tracking pixels, and no advertising. Nothing is sold or shared with anyone for marketing purposes.
Legal basis
Under the GDPR, the processing described above relies on legitimate interest: keeping the site secure and available, and replying to correspondence you start.
If analytics or advertising are added in future, they will rely on consent, a consent mechanism will be added to the site, and this page will be updated before either is switched on.

Advertising
The site displays no advertising and sets no advertising cookies. If that changes, this page and the Cookie Policy will be updated first, and a consent mechanism added at the same time.
Data sharing
Data is processed by two third parties, each under its own privacy policy:
- Hostinger — web hosting
- Cloudflare — content delivery and security
Data is not sold or shared with anyone else.
International transfers
Both providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that happens, transfers rely on the safeguards those providers have in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Retention
Server and network logs are retained according to each provider’s own policy. Emails are kept as long as needed to handle the correspondence.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or UK, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where consent is the basis relied on. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

Children
This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes
This policy describes the site as of the date at the top. When the site changes, the policy and the date change with it.
